The Antanna Unit




The VU-360 VHF/UHF Direction Finder (DF) provides bearing information of Aircraft VHF/UHF transmission for the purpose of assisting in Air Traffic Control. The system operates in the Civil Aeronautical Band/Military Bandand the bearing information of arriving, departing, and en route aircraftis displayed remotely to a 19" Operator/Control Unit. The DF systemis comprised of the following major sub-assemblies

  • Omni central antenna for system test
  • Lightning protection
  • Easily erected and commissioned

PROCESSOR UNIT
  • Signal conditioning circuitry
  • Microprocessor controlled bearing calculations
  • Microprocessor generated test signals
  • Fourier analysis circuitry
ANTENNA COMMUTATION UNIT
  • Soft switching, to reduce cross modulation
  • Mounted at ground level for ease of maintenance
  • Sixteen (16) connectorized co-axial switch cards forease of maintenance
  • Unsampled dipoles terminated in 50 ohms
RECEIVER UNIT
  • Three (3) stage superheterodyne phase matched receivers(dual)
  • Frequency synthesizer module
  • RF injection Test Module
CENTRAL CONTROL DISPLAY UNIT
  • Full control capability of the system for the technician'suse
  • Digital LED bearing display or PC-based touchscreen system
  • Separate 121.5/243 MHz receivers
  • Telephone line interface circuitry to/from OperatorControl Display Unit
  • Voice communications link to Operator Control DisplayUnit
